Juniper, or Juniper Darkpool, is an elderly male panda.
History[]
Creatures of the Flood[]
- During the Feast of Gray Light, Juniper asks if the Dragon could be more generous with his gifts. Plum reprimands him, saying he should be more grateful for what he has, and calls him Juniper Slenderwood. Juniper mutters that he is Juniper Shallowpool. Hyacinth reminds him that the pandas are all Slenderwoods now, but Grass retorts that if he isn’t a Slenderwood, he should be called “Deepriver” or “Floodwater”. With a huff, Juniper turns his back on the other pandas and eats his bamboo.
- Later, Grass says that he was right, and that the Great Dragon has abandoned them. Juniper grumbles that that wasn’t what he said.
- Crabapple recalls the summer before the flood, when the Dragon Speaker warned them that Juniper’s pool would dry up, but Juniper was able to find a deeper pool in no time. Juniper grumbles in response.
