Scratcher, or Scratcher Climbing Far, was a male red panda. When Shadowhunter arrived to retrieve Leaf, he got hungry, so he killed Scratcher to eat him. This caused the red pandas and the Slenderwood pandas to head north to find a new home.

Creatures of the Flood[]
- Scratcher's only appearance is when they find his body after he had been mauled by a tiger. This prompted the other red pandas, as well as the Slenderwood pandas, to leave in search of a new home. After Shadowhunter introduces himself to Leaf and Dasher, he reassures the pair that he is not here to harm them. Dasher, however, is unconvinced by Shadowhunter's claims, and acknowledges the tiger's role in his uncle's death.
