Bamboo Kingdom Wiki

Shiver, or Shiver Born of Winter - is a female snow leopard with thick fur[1], large paws and long fur on her ears and tail[2], and one of Ghost's adoptive siblings.

Shiver cared deeply for Ghost, even after finding out that they were not related, nor were they even members of the same species. When Winter perished during an earthquake, Shiver was the only cub of Winter who did not hold Ghost accountable for their mother's death, but accepted it as consequence for the earthquake. That, coupled with her frail condition, prompted Shiver to travel to the Bamboo Kingdom with Ghost.

In River of Secrets, Shiver is present when Ghost learns more about his kind from Sunset Deepwood. After finding that the water has receded, she and Ghost cross the Egg Rocks into the Southern Forest where they become members of the Propserhill community. Eventually Shiver discovers Sunset's true colors and tries to warn Ghost. But the latter stubbornly refuses to believe Shiver that Sunset could be bad. Ghost goes so far as to accused Shiver of jealousy. Shiver then leaves the Prosperhill claiming that she'll return to the mountains and Ghost can find her once Sunset betrays him. However it's later revealed that Shiver never returned to the White Spine, but continued to spy on Sunset.

Shiver later revealed herself to the captive Peony and Rain, the former of whom recognized her. She aided Ghost against the monkeys who intended to betray him, but was unable to assist him the night they brought him to the Broken Forest, intending to kill him. Shiver instead waited for Ghost to help Peony and Rain escape their prison, but was forced to help them out without his help. She later helped the duo travel to the mountains where they found sanctuary among the Hollowtree pandas and met up with Ghost again upon his return from the Dragon Mountain.

Appearance[]

Shiver is the runt of her litter, which means that she is the smallest of Winter's cubs.[citation needed] She has short legs, thinner-than-usual, soft white fur with grey-brown spots and a thick, fluffy tail that is as long as her body. She has weak lungs.[3]

History[]

Creatures of the Flood[]

Shiver partakes on a hunting expedition with her siblings. Snowstorm and Frost draw farther ahead of them, to Ghost and Shiver's dismay, as they were slower, and Winter, their mother, had told them not to go too far ahead of the others.

River of Secrets[]

Shiver is revealed to have reunited with Ghost and meets Sunset shortly after she parted ways with Ghost. Shiver cheers her brother on as he struggles to catch some prey. As Ghost tries a stalk of Bamboo, Shiver asks if she could try some. After consuming it however, Shiver finds the taste disgusting. As Sunset introduces the pair the concept of the Great Dragon, Shiver finds the idea of such deity existing ridiculous. After learning that the flood as died down where the Egg Rocks are stationed, Shiver and Ghost travel there.
After Sunset introduces her and Ghost to the other Prosperhills, they make a den out of Bamboo. They soon fall asleep. However they siblings are awoken by Blossom when the latter begins feasting on their den. Ghost tells Blossom to stop eating the den he and Shiver are residing into. However, Blossom refuses. Following Ghost's fight with Blossom, Shiver praises Ghost for standing up to the other Panda as that's what Winter would want. However Sunset tells both Shiver and Ghost that pandas have to co-exist with one another in order to survive Bamboo Kingdom post-flood.
Eventually Shiver discovers Sunset's true colors and tries to warn Ghost. But the latter stubbornly refuses to believe Shiver that Sunset could be bad. Ghost goes so far as to accuse Shiver of jealousy. Shiver then leaves the Prosperhill claiming that she'll return to the mountains and Ghost can find her once Sunset betrays him. However it's later revealed that Shiver never returned to the White Spine, but continued to spy on Sunset. Shiver witnesses Cypress and Blossom dig the pit that would later become Rain and Peony's prison and overhear Nimbletail stand up to her troopmates when they torment Rain and Peony. When Shiver overhears the that the monkeys intent to betray Sunset and Ghost, Shiver decides to help Ghost, Peony and Rain escape the Prosperhill and decide to seek Nimbletail's assistance.

Journey to the Dragon Mountain[]

Back at the White Spine, Snowstorm and Frost wonder if Shiver and Ghost are okay.
In the Southern Forest, Rain spots Shiver when the former attempts to escape the pit. Rain is unable to make out who Shiver is before the latter heads off.

Personality[]

Shiver cares very well for her family, particularly Ghost. Shiver continued to regard Ghost as her brother even after she learned that the latter was in fact a bear and thus, not her real brother. Like Frost and Snowstorm, Shiver was devastated when Winter was killed. However, Shiver didn't hold Ghost accountable for their mother's death the same way her actual littermates did. Instead, Shiver accepted Winter's fate as an unfortunate consequence resulting from the earthquake. Her affiliations for Ghost coupled with her desire to survive prompted her to leave the mountains with her adopted brother instead of remaining with her biological siblings.

In River of Secrets, she is revealed to find the concept of The Great Dragon ridiculous believing that The Snow Cat is the only one and true god. She initially likes Sunset but begins to grow suspicious of the latter's intentions later on. After overhearing Sunset slander Ghost behind the latter's back, Shiver tries to warn her brother about Sunset, but Ghost doesn't believe her. This results in an argument regarding Sunsets intentions. After Ghost accuses Shiver of jealousy, Shiver announces her departure with the pretext that she'll return to the White Spine. In reality Shiver continues to look out for Ghost but from a distance. Upon overhearing the monkeys plan to betray Ghost and Sunset, Shiver grows increasingly concerned for her brother's welfare.
