The squirrel pair are two flying squirrels who live in the northern forest, and are often shown mocking Leaf and Dasher.
- History
When Leaf and Dasher get swept up into the river trying to cross it, the Squirrel Pair guides them out of the river. They then proceed to mock Leaf and Dasher for trying to cross the river.
When Leaf and Dasher try to find a way across the river again, the Squirrel Pair insults them, calling them unwise and useless without their Dragon Speaker.Monkeys[]

This Unknown Troop of Monkeys confront Orchid and Root during the flood. They also kill Root after knocking him into the flooded river.
- History
During the flood, Root and Orchid climb up a tree for shelter. There they encounter the monkeys. The troop lost a few of it's members during the flood and hold the panda couple accountable because they are both pandas and Sunset Deepwood didn't warn the troop about the flood before is subsequent disappearance. The Pandas attempt to reason with the troop by telling them they had no more foreknowledge about the flood than the troop did. However the monkeys refuse to listen to reason and attack Root. Orchid tries to save her mate, but Root is knocked into the river right before Orchid could save him.
When Peony tells Rain about her parents, she brings up the troop when she acknowledges their role in Root's death.
