Winter was a female snow leopard, and the mother of Shiver, Snowstorm, and Frost, as well as the adoptive mother of Ghost.
History[]
Pre-series[]
- Winter gave birth to three cubs: Shiver, Snowstorm, and Frost. She heard mewling from inside a cave and found Ghost there, alone. While she was in the cave, an avalanche fell outside. She then nursed Ghost with her own cubs.
Creatures of the Flood[]
- Not wanting Ghost to feel like an outsider, Winter never told him that he was a panda, nor did she acknowledge that Ghost was adopted. Ghost later asks why Winter lied to him about being her cub. Winter apologizes, though their reconciliation is cut short when Winter falls into the Endless Maw and is killed. Blaming himself, Ghost leaves for the Northern Forest to reunite with his species. Shiver follows her adopted brother, while Frost and Snowstorm remain behind to mourn their mother.
River of Secrets[]
- Ghost continues to lament the loss of his foster mother, believing that had he not tried to cross the Endless Maw, Winter would still be alive.
- When Ghost and Shiver enter a territorial dispute with Blossom, Ghost thinks about how Winter would want him to respond. So he reacts with force, much to the dismay of Blossom and the other pandas. Shiver however praises Ghost as that's what Winter would want.
- When Ghost joins the Prosperhill Pandas for a feast, he brings up Winter when he tells Pebble who is mourning Rain's "death" that Rain was only doing what she loved most when Sunset claimed that Rain was crossing the river when she was swept away. Ghost cities that Winter was an excellent jumper, but that didn't stop her from falling into the Endless Maw.
- When Shiver arrives to warn Ghost about Sunset, Ghost mentally notes that Shiver resembles Winter.
